Our
Policy and Approach
Freight
is FOB the
point of origin and varies according to size
and weight of your order.
Our FOB policy means you pay only for your
actual freight cost for the actual distance
your material traveled. That means
you do not subsidize other customer’s
freight expenses by paying generally inflated
flooring material prices to cover the cost
of “Free Freight”
We are considered a prized Account by our
selected carriers and thus enjoy the most
competitive LTL rate structures that the
trucking industry has to offer.
We generally do not
book “to your
door” services with LTL carriers due
to “Standing Time” Charges for
delays in offloading. Instead, we will
ship to the closest Freight Terminal for
you to pick up at that dock –or- if
you have access to a “dock high” facility,
which is nearer to you, we will ship there
according to your instructions.
We can and do arrange
LTL “to your
door” services – but you will
be charged for excess “standing time” charges
in the event your offload is not executed
within the freight lines allowed time. The
driver only “tailgates” your
load. That means you must have the
manpower to offload your order quickly and
efficiently when the truck arrives.
If you desire jobsite delivery,
offload and placement for your
construction project or existing home,
that service can be arranged through a
local cartage company. For an additional
charge, local Cartage Companies can be
ordered to move your materials from your
local freight dock to your site.
Wherever available
we use Box or covered Truck Cartage to
protect your materials against inclement
weather.
99% of our freight arrives intact
in excellent condition. However,
in the event you encounter damaged freight – Here’s
what to do:
Check for damage. If you
see damage that is readily apparent, note
it on the Bill of Lading or Freight Bill
you are being asked to sign. Regardless
of what the Dock Manager or Driver says,
Note any damage before signing and Snap
a photo with your cell phone or camera
and send it to us. You
have the right to refuse the damaged materials. We’ll
get you more material and settle the claim
with the carrier. Contact us
So we can handle the situation promptly. If
you can furnish us copies of what you’ve
signed—that would be very helpful.
If your material
comes in and appears to have gotten wet
or is wet—Refuse
the load right then and there. That
is clearly mishandled freight and will
be claimed against the freight line. Note
on Bill of Lading or Freight Bill: Refused
due to water damage. Let us
get you another load of material instead. If
you accept water-damaged freight, you own
it and manufacturer warranties do not cover
future problems arising from that occurrence.
Inevitably, working with materials
that have gotten wet is a mistake—no
matter what your time constraints. Ultimately
these materials will require expensive,
non-warranted repairs or replacement—so
we advise you bluntly: “Don’t
Do it!” Let us file
a claim with the responsible carrier and
get you new materials, immediately while
there is a carrier responsible for the
materials.
Job site delivery services vary
according to the size, weight, and distance
involved. Once we have an address
for the freight terminal we’ll be using
and the jobsite address where you will accept
delivery, we’ll be able to give you
a firm price for the combined freight services
quoted.
Make sure that
you’re ready
for the materials! Be sure
you have a passable, drivable approach
to your site. Delivery Trucks must
be able to get within 5 feet of your structure.
Additional charges apply if yards, or long
walkways must be traversed to drop materials.
Tell us about it in advance so we can get
a realistic price before you’re standing
there arguing with a reluctant service provider.
You must have a secured
and dry area in which to store your materials. Signature
upon delivery is required.
Generally, job site deliveries are
to first floor ground level only. If
you have multiple levels and desire material
placement throughout the project—this
is generally done only in new construction. Charges
for Offloading and Specific Placement services
vary by market, and we will be happy to
obtain quotes for you – specific
to your needs.
Deliveries and material
placement throughout the project for existing,
furnished, occupied homes is generally
limited to Garage Delivery only—unless
you waive potential damage to finished
surfaces and objects within the home.
If you are in a high
rise, requiring Elevator delivery—we’ll
need to know the building rules regarding
deliveries, times, loading dock appointment
requirements etc.
If you have more than
three steps, internal or external which
contracted cartage off-loaders will have
to travel—be aware that rates
go up, and we need to know about these before
the load is scheduled for delivery!
Under no circumstances should you
plan to have, or allow your materials to
be left outside!
With a little help
from you in planning, we can arrange a
trouble free shipment and if desired --
a job site delivery of your materials. Note that we have a comments
section in our shopping cart. Tell
us about any special circumstances, that
we will need to know to
Deliver your freight efficiently. Make
sure we have your “most likely to be
answered phone number”
Sometimes a freight
line looses a load, or misdirects a shipment
or just misses an appointment due to traffic,
facilities closures etc. In the event your load is late
or goes missing—don’t fret, we’re
a phone call away and we will track it down
or reship new materials.
Remember,
we only get to keep your business and your
goodwill if we deliver the product—so
of course, we want to deliver your product
promptly!!
Have a Great Day, a Great Floor and thanks
again for your business!
